Trailer of Fatal Affair Gets Released

July 7, 2020

Since the people have been stuck at home as a government mandate, all popular streaming sites have up their game to pull in more subscribers and benefit from this unprecedented opportunity to increase viewership on their site. To further this effort, Netflix dropped the trailer of their upcoming movie titled “Fatal Affair”. The movie has a thriller plot, a juicy title, an affair gone wrong scenario and a throwback song with distorted tones, garnished with talented and capable actors; a perfect combination to make a cheesy yet gripping movie. Fatal Affair is about a typical “happily ever after” a couple of Stephen Bishop and Nia Long. They shift in a serene, huge and white colour covered house. Nia is living the prefect live with her loving husband and her gorgeous house.

But that surely is not the case. The re-appearance of an ex-lover (Omar Epps) makes her admit that she feels estranged from her husband like she does not love him anymore, that the two of them have turned strangers and she is trapped. The coincidental appearance of Omar makes Nia feel drawn towards him. The two rekindle what they had and thus begins an extramarital affair. But Nia soon starts feeling guilty about it because she is married and calls the whole thing off before her husband gets a whiff of it. The boyfriend, like every other disgruntled ex-lover, starts to badger her with constant calls and messages, and when she ignores it, he does not go down easily.

Omar does everything to infiltrate her life, torture her, scare her and force her to leave the husband and be with him instead. The shots and the scene cuts ensure that the viewers can grasp how helpless he renders Nia and how obsessive he is to be a permanent part of her life. Juggling the fear of her husband finding out about what happened behind his back and shock of seeing such dark side of a man she once thought she knew, the woman is left to fend for herself. The movie focusses on how one harmless affair can turn violent and mind-numbingly scary without warning.

Director Peter Sullivan goes to reinvent the popular 90’s formula of a hit thriller, bringing in some recent cinematic changes. The trailer leaves the audience begging for more, making them anxious for the actual movie release. Netflix ensured that the trailer and movie are released within the same period. So the movie is scheduled to release on the 16th of July, 2020. Let us hope the movie lives up to its potential and expectations.
